Why the order of the numbers on a calculator and the telephone are opposite???

I sure bet you guys don't... ignorant people of the 21st century! >.< Why the heck is it arranged like that??? I mean ... I haven't even noticed this before... So swipe off that haze of ignorance and open your eyes and go figure. Why?
Long long time ago... the ppl of the olden days of some European country are so accustomed to tapping on the calculator that they tapped the numbers sooo fast resulting the telephone hospitals to clog up. To overcome this problem... they decided to rearrange the numbers so that ppl will take their time and dial the numbers.... sadly.... I don't think it works these days... homo sapiens have after all the ability to adapt to their environments .... which includes the topsy turvy telephones and calculators
